Xinyu Huang (b. 1998) is a Chinese artist based in Scotland. Working primarily with analogue photography, she extends the photographic medium through material and multimedia experimentation. Her practice explores the entanglement of temporality, materiality and perception, attending to the tensions between stillness and duration, the fleeting and the eternal, while investigating how the rift between perception and representation might be bridged.

Deeply informed by her encounters with the wilderness landscapes of Scotland, her current research considers the primordial bonds between human beings and the world, not as something belonging to a distant past, but as a persistent mode of presence obscured by the structures of modern life. Through photography and embodied, material processes, she seeks to reveal moments in which fragmented perception and habitual relations between self and world are unsettled, thereby challenging the mechanisms of modern alienation.
